Changing my blog host
Although I much prefer the look and feel of this blog that Xanga provides. I have decided to move over to Blogspot as they have more options available that fit my needs.

20 years of Cubensis
So on a different subject...
Last weekend I almost literally dragged Sandy to see a band whom I embarrassed to say I have seen for nearly the entire span of their 20 year history. (Am I embarrassed to be a deadhead, or about my age? you decide)
Cubensis is a Grateful Dead tribute band who have made a sideline career for themselves playing at least 1 show per week on a consistent basis for 20 years. They celebrated that fact at the Galaxy Theater last week to a packed house of the most hippies I have seen in over 10 years. It was great to see people whom I haven't seen in as many years almost all back together.
I used to see these guys play most every Tuesday nite and this was such a big part of my life. Things have changed for me quite a lot since then (definitely for the better) but I love to get a dose of them whenever I can, and there was no way I would miss this celebration with (almost) all of their former band members.
This Band was started by Craig Marshall and friends and has created it's own enigmatic history not unlike that of the Dead themselves.
To Craig and everyone who has been of part of Cubensis, Thank you for a real good time.

Well, yet again, it's been a while, but here I am.
The holidays were rough for me & my family since the loss of Dad, but were coping as well as can be expected.
I took the time between my last post and now to relax & regroup myself for the new year, and so here we are!
We have only shot personal/family photos in the downtime. We shot our yearly Christmas card photo for Sandy's sister.
See the pics here
I also photographed the tattoos of her husband

Other pics can be seen from the main page of our Flickr site:
We had good time visiting with friends and family over the holidays. Christmas day and New Years eve were spent at my Bro's house, which will be on flickr by the end of the coming weekend.
As for plans in the new year, were still seeking weddings. I hope to find time to get our web site up to date. I have been lagging with a good excuse, but that time is over.
The site will get more exciting and get regular updates. I will also be printing portfolio & wedding book samples to show prospective clients. My plan here is big, so I can't wait to make these a reality.
By the end of this year I hope to see Sandavi photography miles ahead of where we are at the moment.
So, as usual, please stay tuned.

Coping with my Father's passing has been very different than I imagined it would be. For the most part I have dealt with the grief pretty well, but I did not anticipate the depression that has come along with it. This too I can and will deal with, but the holidays makes this harder as well as seeing that my Mom is Ok.
I cope with this simply by being grateful for the people in my life and my abilities and aspirations to better the lives of Sandy and I.
In all this mess I have been futhering my reading about marketing and how it cann apply to our business. I look forward to applying these principles throughout the coming year and beyond.
In Photographic news and interests, I have been reading Adobe Photoshop lightroom for digital photographers bt Scott Kelby. This guy is a great writer and teacher. I have discovered him through a Photoshop podcast called Photoshop User TV (http://www.photoshopusertv.com/) This is a great cast that I should have discovered ages ago and the book has been a huge help in learning about my favorite software program ever!
A great link discovered today through the podcast is lens pro to go.
(http://lensprotogo.com/) This is a great resource if you need to rent equipment in a remote area or your local rental sources do not ahve what you need. I'd like to try this out sometime when the need arises.
Bye for now

Bill Tankersley
My Father, Bill Tankersley, passed away on Friday, November 9th after giving one hell of a fight to cancer, heart disease, and even diabetes. My dad had enough close-calls with death to make a ghetto ally cat jealous. He had at least 2 heart attacks prior to getting cancer. By the time he might have been willing to have a bypass surgery, his prostate cancer had already spread to his bones and particularly his rib cage, so this made open-heart surgery impossible and his blockages were in areas where stints and balloons were not able to be of use.
Even with the worst prognosis and the end result being obvious, he refused to believe that the end was near and fought-on to the very end. This was the kind of guy he was - always optimistic and looking for new and revolutionary way to clear ANY obstacle. I feel that I have inherited most of his best qualities, particularly his entrepreneurial spirit, but that I have allowed these to lay dormant inside me while following other pursuits both socially and professionally that may or may not have been very beneficial to me.Until recently, I have not had the courage to start a business on my own. My dad (and mom) were very happy and proud to see me take my photography seriously as a career with my amazing wife, Sandy. I was very excited to share my plans and ideas with dad. He must have been so excited to see me borrowing his books & CD's about business and marketing in recent weeks, which is someting I had no interest in at all until now. I can see him giving me his knowing smile now as I write this, seeing me follow my dream and not just a paycheck while sharing this dream with Sandy.
In tribute to and inspired by dad's entrepreneurial spirit, I dedicate the year 2008 to him and will seek with even greater intensity to achieve the goals i have set for the year.
My sister in-law wrote an excellent obituary for him posted below, where comments and memories can be posted if you know him.

I have also posted a slideshow of old family pictures of him here:

Rest in peace, dad.
I'll see you on the other side and will expect to have a cup of coffee waiting for me.
